Photo of the Day: When we started out on our journey we had no clue how to go about finding performers. thats when Gautham Subramanyam suggested that we meet up with a friend of his. this photo is of Umashankar manthravadi from the American institute of Indian studies in Gurgaon. The institute has one of the oldest and most comprehensive archives of Indian music. he is a sound recordist at the centre of ethnomusicology. he spends most of his free time playing around with sound equipment to come up with innovative ways to record a fuller sound. he feels he has the best job in the world as he gets to listen to music all day long. he is one of the many people who have helped us in figuring out the mechanics of filming and recording sound on this journey of ours.
